Covid-19: 2,683 Patients Refuses to Turn up for Treatment_LASG

The authorities of  Lagos State Government has raised alarm over the increasing number of 2,683 active COVID-19 patients who refused to turn up for treatment at the isolation centre due to Ignorance, fear of stigmatization or they opted for home care method.

Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi disclosed this through his Official  Twitter handle. Stating Reasons for refusing to turn up for admission,  according to the Commissioner of health, maybe due to ignorance, fear of stigmatization or they opted for home care method.

The Commissioner additionally disclosed that the state has recorded 128 COVID-19 associated deaths.

“2,683 active cases inside the communities are yet to turn up for admission in care centres either because of ignorance/worry of stigmatisation or preference for domestic care.

“As at 27th of June, 2020 numbers of #COVID-19 related deaths in Lagos State have risen to 128,” Abayomi tweeted.

Lagos State currently has 10,144 COVID-19 cases, making it the highest state in Nigeria.
